Oxfordshire 500 is based on the idea that a group of members (who are anonymous to each other) pay a very small amount of money each month that collectively turns into a small donation to a local person, group or cause in the county.    It provides a very targeted £500 gift each month that could make a lot of difference to a family or community group that is struggling in some way.   The person or people getting the award are nominated and voted on by the members of Oxfordshire 500 who are also monthly contributors. 

Since November 2021 Oxfordshire 500 has given monthly gifts of at least £500.  Please look at past donations on the History page.

We have given two donations in November.  The first to a single man, nominated by Homeless Oxfordshire,   who was totally dependent and has been living in temporary supported Homeless accommodation but he has finally been given accommodation but it has no furnishings and he needs assistance to buy some basic things and the second, nominated by Homestart, to a single mother of 2 who has lost her mother who she was very close to and recently her partner and the father of the two boys has left.  Mother is just about managing but her mental health is suffering.  The youngest of the 2 boys is aggressive, unpredictable and destructive.  House is in state of disrepair.  Washing machine has just broken down and she is saving for a new one but takes her washing to her Dad’s at the moment. Boys need new bedding.  The eldest child, 5 years old is still using a cot quilt.
