Oxfordshire 500 is based on the idea that a group of members (who are anonymous to each other) pay a very small amount of money each month that collectively turns into a small donation to a local person, group or cause in the county.    It provides a very targeted £500 gift each month that could make a lot of difference to a family or community group that is struggling in some way.   The person or people getting the award are nominated and voted on by the members of Oxfordshire 500 who are also monthly contributors. 

Since November 2021 Oxfordshire 500 has given monthly gifts of at least £500.  Please look at past donations on the History page.

We have given three donations of £500 in December.  The first to grandparents caring for their two grandchildren as mother is unable to care for them. They are coping with significant bed wetting and their dryer has broken down.  They were nominated by Oxford City Fostering.   The second to a young man who has had a history of drug crime but who has now made the decision to turn his life around.  Oxfordshire Homeless, through The Porch, have found him accommodation but he is now trying to get a job in hairdressing.  He has to buy his own equipment and pay for his travel and finally to a family supported by Flexicare.  She is a single parent with a 12 year old severely disabled son.  She is struggling to support her family and provide clothing and food for her family.
