Oxfordshire 500 is based on the idea that a group of members (who are anonymous to each other) pay a very small amount of money each month that collectively turns into a small donation to a local person, group or cause in the county. It provides a very targeted £500 gift each month that could make a lot of difference to a family or community group that is struggling in some way. The person or people getting the award are nominated and voted on by the members of Oxfordshire 500 who are also monthly contributors.
Since November 2021 Oxfordshire 500 has given monthly gifts of at least £500 (over £42,000 in total). Please look at past donations on the History page.
We have given two donations this October. The first to a single man, nominated by CAB Didcot, who has spent most of his life in care but now through his hard work has shown social services that he can be a good father and provide for his 15 year old son. He has been given a two bedroom property but this comes with no white goods and he has no money to buy these things. Secondly, also nominated by CAB Oxford, a client who has a long term disability who has moved into new permanent OCC property. He is also in need of furnishings, enabling him to move into the new property before the winter.
Next request for nominations will be sent out end November
